To be honest with you, I don’t remember about an hour into my birthday fiesta. I do know that the delicious margaritas were flowing consistently and all on an empty stomach. So, you know what that means.

- Surprise Chipotle bowls appearing out of no where (aka my roomie going out to sneak it in for me)
- Eating said Chipotle bowl with no utensils and sharing with friends (definitely not shown)
- Not realizing that my romper turned into a pair of booty shorts at one point (aka my ass ate the short portion of the romper)
- Accepting daisies because it’s my birthday
- Ripping my prized Rag & Bone denim shirt on a wooden bench that I so lovingly took a nap on
- Cheering on a child playing carnival games
- Taking a ridiculous amount of iPhone photos to learn, later, that they will never see the light of day
- And the last image of this post says. it. all. 

Needless to say, I had a great 26th birthday.

Getting away for even a few hours has been more rewarding than trying to take time for a vacation. That in itself is quite the struggle. So I decided to rather the troops and head down to Coney Island with the following to check off my summer list: 1.) Check out the restoration and 2.) Blow some money riding some stupid carnival rides and eating extra-fried anything. I can tell you this much: mission accomplished. (Fried oreos coming up in part two!)

I’m also very nostaglic for Santa Cruz back home. The boardwalk will always be one of my favorite places to go; to rally the friends, grab some brews and road trip it down to the Boardwalk. There have been many a memory made there including sexy freshman in speedos. Hey young men.

Where are you guys escaping lately? I haven’t really left the city to head upstate because, well, I’m absurdly scared of the ciadas. So. There’s that. But any tips of cool places to go would be much appreciated. Or even if you’ve got a good tip of having a staycation. I’m all about those.

The one wonderful thing about my life in NYC is the friends I’ve made. I think I’ve found those that I’ll have with me for (hopefully) the rest of my life. I never had the real college experience where you meet all your soon-to-be bridesmaids and godmoms. I didn’t have that so moving to New York has definitely fulfilled that feeling of long-lasting friendships needing to be made.

A good friend of mine, as you may see on Instagram every now and then, took me to this Thai/Japanese restaurant in Astoria to try something new. We usually go to this amazing, I mean AUHHHMAZINNGGG, Peruvian restaurant in the UWS so we went out of the box on this one. It was a total fail but made for good comedy as this kid is going to be competing soon for body building (or something technical like that) and this man eats like no one’s business. I mean seriously. He had two full platters of chicken teriyaki. So… that was fun to watch.

But it’s so good to have friends I can just hang with and throw all my bad and good! on them all at once and they listen and get it and talk about it. I miss my best friends so much back home but it’s so hard to get our schedules coordinated. So it’s really nice when you have people here that can really help you zen the FUCK out. And there’s your f-bomb for the day. 

I’m curious though, for those of you who live in big cities, do you still just keep with your same circle of friends back home or do you make a whole new group of friends? It’s interesting isn’t it? To know that a city is nothing with comfort of friendship and family.. oh and good food.

Oh and yes, that is Ariel making fun of the blogger pose of “holding one dead arm”. It pretty much killed me.

Who remembers getting Newport News in the mail as a kid? My mom did all the time and that little shopping catalogue became my little haven at a young, impressionable age of 13 years old. All I wanted to do was get to shop in that catalogue; I would circle all my favorites in hopes that my mom would see and order me something. Well, that never happened. But still, all I wanted to do was wear the style of the women in the Newport News/Spiegel catalogues.

Combine travel and packing, chaotic week(s), new arrivals + items to sell, a closet that isn’t located in your actual bedroom, the combination of not having enough hangers or the right hangers, and a shit ton of other bullshit… you get my closet. The funny part about my closet is this is a weekly occurrence. This is mainly due to my closet being located in a vicinity not close to me (in a whole other bedroom) so that makes getting dressed and putting away the unwanted pieces for the look of the day difficult. My style is probably the most hilarious story I can actually tell. Fuck the sexual hiccup stories and the queefing moments of my life. Watching my style turn into a full-fledged conundrum; it’s like I’m in on my own joke of style. Funny enough though, I’ve liked how I’ve transitioned my wardrobe. I feel like I finally feel comfortable wearing what I am. It feels more careless and more reckless than usual. Which pretty much explains my entire life: reckless. What are my late 20′s for anyway?

It’s my birthday and I’m twenty-six years old and that. is. cray.
This blog has seen me through a solid four birthdays and that’s wild. So, here’s to twenty-six. However that’s defined.

Who thinks I should go back to the one length bob and bangs? Hey girl hey.

Last week, I was off in La la land on a work trip and of course, I soaked up some sun. Okay, not really. I wish. It was nice to come to LA to see some friends too. Nothing makes me happier than goofy puppies and boys in beanies.

There’s definitely something about Los Angeles that makes me miss that superficial lifestyle though. Driving around in a car in the ridiculous traffic, looking up to see the man-made placement of palm trees and the beautiful sunsets that, well, you just can’t make up. Yeah, this girl misses it all. I lived in LA when I was 20 years old and it was definitely very different. Who knows… I may just come back. Or not. Or maybe. #mystery

P.S. Self tanner should never be purchased by me again. That tan is real, not edited. And I look like a Profresh oompa loompa.
