I’ve struggled with this time and time again, not sure whether I thought what I was wearing could be considered fashionable and to the extent of, art. When you get dressed, do you think about what message you’re giving? What people may think when you walk down the street? Perhaps they think it’s a beautiful outfit, perhaps they see the artistic aspects of your thought. I used to think about what others thought on my garb- how would they perceive it and would they see my look as creative and inspiring? But I’ve realized something.

Style is an expression of your artistic brain cells going hard at work. I realized that they things we buy and the trends we’re attracting to are all conceptual pieces being gathered to create a certain look, a clear aesthetic, a specific message- just like what an artist does. Whether on a canvas or on a side of a building, artists gather their inspirations to create works of art. Fashion helps to perceive these notions- which we follow to bring together our personal style. A true creative person gathers aspects of life to create a beautiful piece of work. I find that style is built the same way. I find that MY style is built this way. It’s changed entirely since moving to New York City. I’m constantly inspired by my surroundings and discovering new ideas through the streets of New York or in a campaign ad on Broadway, helps mold my style. It’s my art of expression.
