I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration.” -Frida Kahlo

I first learned about Frida when I was in grade school and became obsessed with her. Little did I know, she’d be so relevant to my adult self. Frida was about her individual choices, going against the grain and standing up for her thoughts. She was also a very mysterious creature which sometimes I feel like I am even though I’m such a public person.

The quote above is exactly what I believe my blog’s mission is. Frida nailed exactly what I couldn’t put into words. I hardly think about how my words will affect you, how my posts will make you feel or what it could do to my future. I write to express myself in hopes to reach someone who can relate. This IS my reality. But I’ve got to say I’m really happy you guys are along for the ride. It’s nice to know that you are following along- somehow it’s very supporting and comforting to me to know my words aren’t wasted even when sometimes it’s crude or blunt or sometimes even bold. So from Frida and me, thanks.

I bought this dress to wear to my girlfriend’s wedding back home- it was the perfect dress because I can dress it up and dress it down. By far, the ultimate summer dress. During the dance portion at the wedding, I tied up the front of the dress so I could get my dance on. It became a high-low dress which is saucy perfection. Photos below↓

I remember learning about Frida in college when I took Art Appreciation.  Then a few years later I saw the movie with Selma Hayek (I think?) and I appreciated her and her work even more! :)

Girl OMG! Frida is my favorite female painter of EVER!!! Her life story is so amazing and her personality is just….so unlike anything in the world today. None of us can come close to her and that is ok. I only hate that some of my favorite painting by her are in private collections. :(
You look so beautiful in these photos.
