I know what you’re thinking. Trust me, I can just see the words floating around in your brain right now. You’re thinking there’s no way in hell you’re going to watch 25 minutes of my face talking to your face. BUT hear me out. Although this is long, it’s regarding some pretty awesome comments from you. I don’t anticipate you’ll watch the entire thing but I suggest you skim over it. MOST of the video is in regards to my BARBIES post- if you haven’t read it yet, check it out.

I want to thank you guys for adding your two cents- that’s what I like to see happen on PS. I love when you guys talk to each other and to me. There’s nothing more rewarding than knowing your talking about things that others think and feel but haven’t had a chance to talk about it. So, thank you.

Now, watch the dramz unfold. BUWAHAHHA.

“Thanks for comparing me to precious…” hilarious. Thanks for being more interesting than True Life: I’m a Sugar Baby cause I stopped watching that to watch this video.

    • http://www.profreshstyle.com/ Christina of Profresh Style

True Life: WHAT THE FUCK! AHAHAHHA. I’ve never heard of that!

  • Joy Davis

Reading your “Barbies” post and listening to this makes me a little confused. The post calls out homogenized bloggers and in this video you said that being friends with a successful blogger is irrelevant to their business. Is it conflicting to be friends with bloggers who’s work ethic/structure is different than yours? It comes off as contradictory although I am sure that is not how you meant to come across.

    • http://www.profreshstyle.com/ Christina of Profresh Style

Hey Joy! Not sure how there’s confusion- I wouldn’t stop being friends with someone just because they aren’t doing things the way that I do them. I’m friends with some of these bloggers because I like them- it actually has nothing to do with their blog. If they decide to do something against what I do, I don’t fault them for that. That’s their prerogative. Besides, I never said my friends were a part of the group I was discussing in the Barbies post.

    • Lucy

I also am confused by these 2 posts. In the first post you said that everyone is starting to look the same, “similar in taste, style & engagement”. Then in your video you defend these people you initially called out and say that it is up to them to work with whatever brands they wish and what they blog about is their prerogative. In your first post are you trying to call out the Brands or the Bloggers? Are you upset that the brands are pushing themselves on the bloggers & trying to conform them to their brand or are you upset that bloggers are bending to the ways and wishes of the brands? Sorry I am just a bit confused about what stirred up the first post: bloggers or brands?
      Thanks!

      • http://www.profreshstyle.com/ Christina of Profresh Style

Hi Lucy! You know you actually bring up a great point. I never thought about who I was more annoyed at- Bloggers or brands? Intitally, I was mad at the brand for assuming that bloggers could be mended into whatever they’d like to get a message across. But then I’ve always had this annoyance with bloggers who don’t have unoriginality. Now, in the video, I’m really just defending my friends BECAUSE they are my friends… it’s kind of like when your friend is in a bad relationship with a guy and all the friends are there to support her and help her get through it vs. knowing some random girl who’s in a bad relationship and saying “She’s dumb for being with that person”. Does that make sense? I suppose I got defensive at the comments being directed towards my friends when originally, my post about Barbies wasn’t regarding my friends whatsoever. But I totally see your point and your confusion. Honestly, it is about the brand but also about the blogger. Chicken or the egg type of situation.

HAAAAAA…my Hubby and I have viewing parties! I’m always telling him about you…he saw your PSA vid after that horrible incident that happened to you. Then one day he only heard your voice coming from my PC, and he says, “Who’s that?”
I respond, “It’s Christina” (like DUH…thought you’d remember that). ”THAT’S Kristina?!” he says, confused as hell. Then I get it. Uh, NOOOOO, baby, you have your fashion vloggers mixed up! That’s not @PrttyShnySprkly:twitter  / PSS / Doctor Kristina, that’s @ProfreshStyle:twitter  / WILDHEARTED GIRL / up-in-yo-face Christina! (Y’all couldn’t be more different, but I love you both). Oh, he’s got it now. That’s what I thought! Anyway, I think your response to some of the comments on Army of Barbies legitimizes your  initial reaction, and is proof of why brands SHOULD align themselves with bloggers who fit their target consumer. When they do, no changes are necessary. It should be a mutual appreciation party. You’re like me, I’m like you, let’s show other people like us what we’ve got!

    That is all. Smooch.

    • http://www.profreshstyle.com/ Christina of Profresh Style

I may have never met your husband but he’s most certainly my favorite. I wouln’t mind being confused with the lovely Kristina- she’s more pure than I ever could be… every now and then, purity’s a good thing ;) Love you @PrttyShnySprkly! But yes girl, you are me and I am you. Straight up. Thank you for understanding what I’m saying. I know sometimes my thoughts don’t translate on “paper” or in my videos- I just hope the majority understands my point. <3

      • http://prettyshinysparkly.com/ Pretty Shiny Sparkly

Can I just say that you two are my most favorite people in the blogging world? I’m so lucky to have met and gotten to know you two through blogging. Yes, Christina you and I couldn’t be more different, but that’s what I love! Because I think secretly I think the way that you already *are*. :) Love that about you!

For the record, my husband knows who I’m talking about if I refer to Christina or Vahni on a first-name basis. ;-)

Also – regarding what you said in the video about what we as bloggers turn down not getting seen by readers – AMEN!! I just recently turned down a 4-figure beauty opportunity because it was not relatable enough and in-line with my blog’s direction. Readers don’t see any of that, but the moment an awesome collaboration comes along with a brand we really love, it sometimes is taken as “selling out”…I think that’s sad; it’s like criticizing an entrepreneur for wanting to make money doing what they love. As long as it’s done with integrity and transparency, more power to us! I hope that makes sense. :)

  • Ms_MJ

Hugs girl!!  We are so here!!

And your video cracked me up!! LOL  I also agree that a blogger has the right to do what they want when it comes to who they work with.  The thing is is that they shouldn’t have to sacrafice themselves to do so. :)

Don’t get why my link is totally not showing up! But anywho, here it is! http://www.getfiercestyle.com

Hope you had an awesome weekend! :)

I really appreciate your video. As a new blogger, I often feel like I have to conform to the methods of successful blogs in order to be liked. You have inspired me by being outspoken, a bit goofy and being so personal and I appreciate the fact that you took time and made this video to keep this personal interaction. This is what a PERSONAL BLOG should be like. Damn, I sound like a kiss-ass. But real talk.

This is exactly why I work for who I do. I can be myself, dress the way I want to & talk the way I want to – cursing sometimes included.

I totally agree with not having to alter who you are for a company. Period. You can still be super professional & be yourself.

  • http://www.ripped-nylon.com/ Ms Duran

YES. Haha, twenty-five minutes of you talking at my face well spent. I don’t have a hubby to have viewing parties with like V, but my sisters know my favorite bloggers because I sit in my kitchen and laugh out loud like an idiot as I read ;D

  • http://twitter.com/KCYouThere KCYouThere

This just made me laugh. Thanks Christina for commenting back to what I had to say.

  • http://www.onewomansstyleevolution.com/ Natasha @OneWomansStylee

Hi Christina. Thanks for the shout out.  I offered my comment as an alternative suggestion on how bloggers could possibly work with a brand that they like and have an interest in but within the brands guideline, (if they have one) to make it a win/win situation for both. By the way, it’s unfortunate if anyone jumps to conclusions regarding mine or anyone’s “authenticity” or potential for based on a suggestion.  However, I am glad that my willingness to suggest an alternative stirred up and prolonged the discussion.  You are truly unique and you are right in your assertion that the brand should have familiarized themselves with your own unique brand before they approached you. One Love.

Woo, that was intense. Oh blogging drama always takes awhile to get out. Being compared to precious, oh Michelle haha.
