Loving the weather in the bay area, however, what about the weather in New York?

I’ve been prepping for MBFW and it’s been a whirlwind, that’s for sure. I’ve never had to walk [fashionably] in the snow for large amounts of time so I’m not sure how to layer appropriately. This is about as much as I layer besides a coat. Oh, Lord, help me. Although I am very excited to be in New York again, I’m so afraid of the snow and walking in it. I’m a subway gal and I heard it’s unbearable to be waiting for the train and it’s packed. I’m nervous about that. Homegirl is broke, okay?!

Aside from the cold, I can’t wait to be back in the city I fell in love with. I can’t wait to meet up with old friends, meet fabulous new ones, and see some of the hottest people roaming the hall of Lincoln Center. The excitement of fashion week is always exciting for me because I love the thrill of running around, going here and there and being slightly stressed. I know, I’m crazy. If you want to find me, I’ll be at the Starbucks on Broadway and W. 63rd, writing my articles, furiously. Also, I would love to make some time and meet up with more fabulous people. Thus far, I’m meeting so many great ones since I’ll be attending both the Lucky Mag, FABB Conference on the 7th and the  IFB Conference on the 10th but I’d love a day to get together for drinks and/or brunch. Mimosas anyone?

thrifted vest dress | thrifted leopard tunic | H&M striped skirt | random thick tights | Me Too gray booties | tassel necklace [bought at fabric store] | H&M lucite bracelets | Dazed & Confused spectacles | GG momma’s silk scarf [worn as turban] | Betsey Johnson leather belt

So I’m asking all you lovely East Coasters: What in the world do I pack? AND, how do I fit it all in three suitcases? P.S. I don’t own shoe shoes, gloves or ear muffs.

Also, THANK YOU ALL for your purchases, your shouts and your praise for Decades Past! Lex and I are having so much fun doing this and the response has been welcomed!! Keep the purchases coming, we’ll be adding new items on Monday! Stay tuned on our Facebook and Twitter for sneak peeks!

I have lived in the East Coast my whole life and like to think I have mastered my winter wardrobe. Make sure you pack multiple layers…think lots of cardigans, blazers-that can be worn under a heavy winter jacket (vintage with fur?) As far as your feet go… the most miserable thing in the world is having wet cold feet in the city. Pack two of your favorite pair of boots (dressy and casual). And don’t forget…accessories are your best friend…HATS SCARFS and GLOVES :)

I will be there Feb. 9th-11th…hopefully we can meet!!

      Okay:

      check check check. LAYERS!
I bought tons of thrifted long wool coats that are oversized enough to tuck in tons of layers! My feet will die unfortunately. I don’t own nor will I ever own practical shoes. I just wear a million and one pairs of socks and tights ;)

Yes, let’s definitely meet up doll!

I saw tassels at the craft store yesterday and wondered to myself how I could fashion them into some sort of attire – this is inspiring! Also, bad for my shopping ban.

Seriously, everyone should be rocking ginormous tassels around their necks like dog tags. Yup. ;)

    Christina,
Ok, I am going to be totally honest with you. When I read that post about the ‘being feathered’ I was totally not feeling it! But now, today, after seeing this post and seeing the feathers actually in your hair- they look FANTASTIC! Really, they are so you and describe your personality perfectly. (at least, to me!) And I think that they mix with these colors/pieces just swell.

    XXXO

LOL. I’m obsessed with the feathers girl. They have become quite the trend I’ve gotta say. And my girl is amazing! Ya, I think it matches my personality perfectly too..a bit out there, a bit wild and still subtle.

Girl, it’s an obsession. I would wear tassels around my neck all the time if they weren’t so damn heavy. Yikes!
