As most of my readers know, I don't really go out shopping very often due to insufficient funds and also not being very inspired by what's in the markets now. For me, it's about starting with the basics to create an entire ensemble.

Let me break it down:

-Started with an H&M basic puff-sleeve tunic dress, paired with another obsession of mine; nude fishnet thigh-highs. I seriously can't tell you how much I love these. I have an enormous collection of legwear but nude fishnets in general have taken over. Lucky for me, I work across the street from a lingerie store, so my stock remains high. :)

-Obvi, I never leave the house with my usual bracelets and rings. Then, added my fur vest from 2 years ago & black peep-toe boots.

-Lastly, I add another element of texture; my silk leopard scarf.

It makes sense for me to just work with what I've got in my closet and create different looks. It saves me money and my style stays consistent. I suggest starting with a basic, then adding on your fave "statement pieces" to make the outfit yours.

xx.

I was so excited to hear that Oak NYC was opening up a pop-up shop here in the bay area. It's about damn time. I've always loved Oak but never, in about a tril years had the ched to shell out. However, their extension of the store, A.Ok, offers awesome t-shirts & jeans and hilarious other paraphernalia. To save you from what everyone else will write about in the media world today regarding the event, let me give you a play-by-play of how I embarrassed myself in front of Mr. Jeff Madalena.

Alexia and I caroused the pop-up shop located in the Seventh Heart place near Hayes Valley. I got a pretty rad t-shirt, got to love Madonna (photos later). I had been eyeballing this man the entire time I was there, obsessing over his poncho-esque shredded linen button-down blend thing. I swear on everything, it was to die for. Somehow, we made it over to him and while staring at his poncho, I could tell he noticed me eyeballing it. So being the chatty-Kathy I am, using my "overly-gay excited" voice, while stroking his shoulder, "is this DIY?"…pause…"or did you buy it?" LMAO. He said he bought it, realizing he def wasn't gay, therefore realizing my voice was unnecessary. So I then proceeded to obsess over it, verbally. I couldn't stop talking about it; the fringe, the shreds, the cut, it was amazing. He, then, continued to show me that it was a button-down and not a poncho which made me so much more obsessed. He was SO CHILL, so down to earth, it was relieving. I asked him if it was a recent purchase…pause…or not so recent. His response: "..actually, I got it here, I work for Oak." I then, looked around as if it was going to magically appear in the store. He then says, "actually, I didn't buy it, I pretty much stole it…" I laugh, continue to touch him, laugh, ha. ha, ha ha ha. Still not realizing who I'm speaking with. The convo gets dropped as Lex and I leave…it isn't until I've already left Oak, that my friend Katie informs me of whom I was speaking with. I literally died of embarrassment. Yes, yes, ladies & gentlemen, I met the owner of Oak NYC and made a complete ass of myself. :) Luckily, he wasn't a douche, nor was he like, (in a grand British-like accent, even though he isn't British) "yes, yes, this is my company. I own Oak. blah ze blah". He acted like a patron, a person like myself. Although I am embarrassed, I am even more excited that I spoke with him. If only he knew my obsession with Oak.

Now, for the pictures of the evening. Bare with my Canon point-and-shoot.

Please meet Jeff Madalena's feet. Unfortunately, I didn't get a good picture of his poncho piece. Bummer.

I also, like usual, didn't get any shots of what I was wearing but I'll try and take photos this weekend to post later of what I wore. There is actually a pretty comical story to go along with it but that's for another day.

-THIS IS DEFINITELY NOT THE AVERAGE "STYLE" POST-

I started vlogging in 2008, and fell in love with it. However, I never, ever, ever seem to be up to date with technology so I never stayed with it. I started doing them when I moved to LA but the ones I'm showing you here are when I moved back home. So, I thought you all might enjoy some VERYYYY embarrassing vlogs I conducted in my time.

02/23/2009-clearly have a bad case of the A.D.D.'s, having a very pointless conversation with myself.

01/12/2009-vlogging with the bestie, discussing current events in our non-so-important lives.

Been so entirely absent on the blog post front but bare with me kids, I promise it will get better. Went to a Giants game this past week. No one in the family is a Giants fan, but I'm pretty sure it's because my dad wanted a snuggie. It was beautiful weather in the bay area this past week, so I worn shorts…however, since it is the bay area, there is constant weather change, which comes to me including the usual tights/blazer combo. It's definitely typical bay area attire to look like you were confused when getting ready that day.

P.S. I really, really, REAALLLYYY, need a photographer so if anyone has a fantastic camera and available, email me! Or leave a comment, whichever is easier. I need someone ASAP!

I pretty sure these guys were my favorite of the night. Quite bold of them to wear such attire. I'd holler. ;)

Yes, I donned a Giants/Fanta snuggie. Shoottt, it kept me mega warm the entire night so I'm definitely not complaining!

Now, I'll leave you with the hilarious "kids" on the Jersey Shore.

If you follow me on Twitter, you'll see that I've been undergoing new changes. One of many is something very exciting to share with you all in taking on a new project/position with IFB (Independent Fashion Bloggers). For those who don't know what IFB is, it's a bloggers community where we all come together to share ideas, questions & concerns. It's also where we hear the latest happenings for the blogging community and coming together to form a union. I am so excited to start on this venture! Jennine, the creator of IFB, and writer for her blog, The Coveted, really has an amazing insight as well as talent. She's one of the 1st generation bloggers so learning from her while working at IFB is going to be an amazing learning experience. Check me out, I'll be running the forums.

Also, some rather somber news to share; the company I've been working for is closing its' doors (the location I manage). It's really sad but there are so other, new, amazing things happening that I get to be a part of; it's really just a chapter closed and another one opened. My boss is one of the best women I've ever met in the industry and I'm really honored that I still get to be a part of the company even though our location is closing.  There are a ton of things I'm looking to venture out on. As most of you know, I freelance as a wardrobe consultant and now that the store is closing, I get to focus more on that which is probably one of the most exciting things going on. I'm taking a lot onto my plate but it's so worth it to me. If I've learned anything from my breakup, it's to live my life the way I want to. :)
